Sorry about the inactivity in LBA! Have just returned to civilization from a 4D3N sturio trip to Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. For the very much looked-forward Murcutt studio, thats what everyone’s calling it now. We have to design a research centre there this session. Really missed my warm bed, my worthy little heater (it was -5 degrees celcius at night and we were sleeping in tents) and phone coverage when I was away — but hey, I’m pretty sure it turned out to be worth all the torture.
Took, like, 368 photos during the trip. Of trees and falls and skies and rocks and rocks and rocks and rocks… (I am working on the Geology part of our group analysis) Alright alright, this entry will be loaded with pics to make up for my long absence.
We camped on the freezing cold grounds of the Walcha Caravan Park in Walcha, a little town located approximately 30minutes drive away from the national park. I was kinda disappointed at first, like: huh, I thought we’d be camping far far away from civilization in some jungle, but here we are – some cheapskate caravan park, and we’re not even sleeping in caravans!

I guess it turned out alright, ‘coz it was already -5degrees in the town… I’d prolly be frozen to death if we were camping in the wilderness! Phew!
But anyway, our site is located in the dry rainforest near the Tia Falls in the Oxley Wild River National Park. It is a pretty amazing site with really cool rock formations from the Great Escarpment.

Our first steps into the site.

The dry rainforest.

Very very cool folded rock formations @ Tia Gorge.

The lookout.

Pretty skies.

Our briefing with Glenn Murcutt and the National Park ranger.

Can you spot me?
We decided to do this 5km walk to see Tia Falls from the other end of the national park. 5km didn’t sound anywhere near intimidating at first but as we were walking, it suddenly occured to us that rainforest grounds were not flat! Kinda relieved to arrive in a piece…

Lee Shean and I, surviving the hike.
The views in the end of the trail…

Tia Falls.

The rock formations casted very beautiful shadows.

Cool tree. Still don’t know what it’s called.
Then there was Apsley Falls which isn’t very far away from Tia. We did a detour there for lunch before coming back to Sydney. Very very pretty.

Okay, the more random ones…

Photo while doing some sketches.

All of us, having breakfast @ RSL.

Lee Shean and I in our girl tent.

That’s the boys’ tent right behind us; the girls’ tent next door.
Need to rush off to work on my Geology analysis now! Ciaoz for now…
